Dermal Fillers – Juvederm Ultra Range- revealing every woman’s beauty potential
restylane Juvederm Ultra

What are dermal fillers?

Age is an unstoppable process and as the body grows older so does the skin; consequently its appearance and characteristics change.

Age, hormones, sun exposure and smoking can all cause fine lines and wrinkles to develop; skin feels more fragile and less elastic. And as we age the hyaluronic acid (HA’s) content of our skin decreases, the skin also loses fat, so it looks less plump and smooth.

Dermal fillers ( HA’s-natural proteins) add volume to gently lift and fill fine lines and wrinkles resulting in a smooth and natural appearance.

Dermal fillers can be used to improve the appearance of forehead lines, frown lines, laughter lines, crow’s feet, acne pits and the lines between the nose and corner of the mouth as well as adding fullness to cheeks and lips.

Fillers come in different thicknesses, the thicker the filler, the deeper it will be injected into the dermal layer of the skin. This helps to plump out fine to deep lines and wrinkles.

What products do you use?

The dermal filler that we use at The Corn House Clinic is Juvederm Ultra. This is a range that is not granular, unlike other fillers ( which are granular) which means that it is able to flow easily into the skin. This results in a smooth and natural appearance. Juverderm Ultra also contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic which helps make the treatment process comfortable.

What happens during the treatment?

Following the pre treatment consultation, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be injected in order to numb the skin. Using a prefilled syringe with a fine needle the filler is injected under the surface of the skin – at shallow levels for fine lines and slightly deeper for more severe wrinkles and folds. Afterwards a mineral camouflage makeup is applied to conceal any redness that may occur at the injection site, this is completely normal and the redness will disappear after a couple of hours.

How long does the procedure take?

A single treatment usually takes 15-30 minutes.

How long do the effects last?

The duration of effect can depend on age, how much filler is injected and where it is placed. However, the beneficial effects can be expected to last for up to 12 months.

Are there any side effects?

Immediately after treatment you may experience some localised swelling, this is completely normal. Most are mild to moderate and resolve within a few days. This will be explained during your pre and post treatment consultation.
